Study ties mulberry leaf extract to lower glucose levels

Taking mulberry leaf extract when consuming a maltose solution helped reduce hyperglycemia in healthy patients, suggesting it may help ward off diabetes, according to a South Korean study in the Journal of Functional Foods. The study also found the results were not different in those who took the extract 30 minutes before the maltose solution test, researchers said.
