U.S. jobless benefit claims decline again

More progress was evident in last week's U.S. figures for initial unemployment benefit applications, with the total down by 9,000. The figure is in line with the average addition of 192,000 jobs a month this year, indicating a slow recovery. "The labor situation is improving, but conditions are still far from normal," said Stephen Stanley, chief economist at Pierpont Securities.
