Use HbA1C to diagnose diabetes, European groups say

The European Society of Cardiology and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes released joint guidelines urging health care providers to use glycated hemoglobin to diagnose diabetes and to conduct an oral glucose tolerance test if the disease was not diagnosed using HbA1C screening. The joint guidelines were published in the European Heart Journal.
