Becoming too passionate about your career to the neglect of your personal life can be harmful to your work performance and health, experts say. They advise setting some priorities. "Sometimes it's not that your work doesn't understand. It's you who feels like you need to be available all the time," says Pepper Schwartz, professor of sociology at the University of Washington in Seattle.
