Cisco calls on FCC to invest more in broadband infrastructure

Government efforts to expand broadband to schools and libraries throughout the U.S. need to focus more on bolstering network infrastructure, according to a white paper released by Cisco Systems. In recommendations to the Federal Communications Commission on pending reforms to the agency's E-rate program, Cisco said the FCC should invest in "comprehensive, business-grade broadband and network solutions," with the goal of delivering 1 Gbps per 2,000 students by 2014.
