Ontario grid operator to start dispatch system for grid-linked wind farms

The Independent Electricity System Operator in Ontario, Canada, will activate a wind dispatch system on Sept. 11, part of the province's efforts to completely switch over from coal-fired generation. The system gives the grid operator the ability to make a five-minute forecast for grid-linked wind farms, making its output dispatchable, IESO said.
