Survey: Many individuals with disabilities suffer from abuse

More than 70% of individuals with disabilities have been verbally, physically or sexually abused at some point in their life, according to a survey of 7,200 individuals with disabilities, their family members and service professionals. The survey, by the Disability and Abuse Project, also found that about half of the incidents of abuse were never reported to authorities, and only 10% of reported cases led to arrests.
