Texas utility signs $1.4B worth of wind-power deals

Purchase agreements worth around $1.4 billion and for 570 megawatts of wind power capacity were signed by Austin Energy in Austin, Texas. The deals, which were entered into by the utility with Duke Energy Renewables and E.ON Climate & Renewable North America, involve wind projects in the vicinity of the Gulf Coast, where wind patterns are in line with the city's electricity-consumption patterns.
