Florida bridge work on schedule despite girder woes

A 24-ton beam intended to support a bridge under construction in Florida is about four inches too long for the project. Last month, workers attempted to fit the 258-foot-long beam into place using a crane. They will fix the problem by cutting two inches from each end of the girder. Officials say work on the bridge is ahead of schedule.
