Report: AAP to support mandatory flu shots for health workers

The American Academy of Pediatrics, representing 60,000 pediatricians, will become the latest provider group to call for mandatory flu vaccinations for health care workers, according to a USA TODAY report. An AAP statement, to be released Monday, cites a study of a flu outbreak in a newborn hospital ICU in which 19 of 54 infants were infected by health-care associated transmission, with one of those infants dying from the illness.
