Insights on transitioning to digital resources

Virginia education officials and publisher Pearson say student engagement increased and teachers had more freedom to work with individual students as the result of a pilot social studies curriculum on the iPad for some grades. However, providing training and support for teachers and enough content for students has proved challenging, they say. Meanwhile, officials in an Arizona district that began transitioning to digital materials seven years ago recommend ensuring educators have access to technology and now are considering allowing students to use their own mobile devices in the classroom.
