Weight-loss surgery reduces CVD risk in obese patients

An analysis in the American Journal of Cardiology found that obese patients who underwent bariatric surgery had a 40% reduction in 10-year cardiovascular risk. Patients also attained an average weight loss of more than 50% and had improvements in heart disease markers including hypertension, diabetes and endothelial functions, experts said.
