Postmenopausal HIV-positive women face increased heath risks

Australian researchers reviewed studies related to menopause and HIV and found that postmenopausal HIV-positive women had a greater likelihood of experiencing heart attacks, heart disease and fractures caused by low bone density. High cholesterol and triglycerides levels were more common, as was diabetes, and continued antiretroviral therapy has been linked to those cardiovascular risk factors. The findings appear in the journal Menopause.
