Defense Department awards $5.6M grant to CaridianBCT

The U.S. Defense Department has awarded a $5.6 million grant to CaridianBCT to help it further develop its Mirasol Pathogen Reduction Technology System, designed to improve safety of blood products used in transfusions. The technology uses riboflavin and ultraviolet light to reduce risks linked to blood-borne pathogens and white cells from donated blood.
