U.S. is facing suit for delaying exploration off Alaska waters

Alaska will file a legal challenge to Interior Secretary Ken Salazar's decision to suspend Shell Oil's Arctic drilling operations and revoke four lease sales, said Gov. Sean Parnell. Salazar failed to discuss the matter with state officials, look into the economic impact or issue an explanation for the moratorium, Parnell says. Salazar suspended Shell's application to drill in the Beaufort and Chukchi seas in May.
