Boston mayor unveils blueprint for ambitious housing plan

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino announced in the spring a goal of building 30,000 housing units in Boston by 2020; a blueprint for the plan released this week calls for $16.5 billion in public and private investment. The proposal allows for taller buildings with smaller units, the discounted sale of land to developers and the use of subsidies to boost growth in affordable housing.
