A federal appeals court has reversed parts of a lower court's ruling related to a professor's pamphlet advocating changes in Washington State University's communications department. The pamphlet and a draft of a book by David Demers were protected speech, the appeals court found. Demers had claimed retaliation by university administrators. "It is worth noting that the court did not in any way find that WSU or its officials/employees engaged in any wrongdoing," university spokeswoman Kathy Barnard wrote in an e-mail.
