Mourners remember Sarria in San Francisco service

San Franciscans gave a final sendoff to Jose Sarria on Friday in a ceremony that brought together LGBT rights activists and local political figures. Mourners donned crowns, veils and white gloves and packed the pews of Grace Cathedral to pay their respects to Sarria, who died Aug. 19 at the age of 90. Sarria was the first openly LGBT American to run for public office, and later founded the Imperial Court charity network, which raises millions of dollars for LGBT rights causes each year.
