U.S. researchers change the geometry of nanoparticle surfaces using fatty acid

Northwestern University researchers have found that the chemical properties of organic molecules bound to surfaces of nonspherical nanoparticles depend on the curvature and shape of the particles. Acidic ligands allow for different regions of the surface to hold different pH values. The result is greater control over molecular self-assembly, according to the study.
