Public REITs positioned to profit from commercial property bust

As the crisis in commercial real estate deepens, REITs stand to score big gains, said Paul Adornato, senior REIT analyst with BMO Capital Markets. "Financially distressed owners, mostly private developers, will have to liquidate their properties," he said. "Publicly traded REITs will be positioned to buy those properties at bargain prices."
