Gates Foundation revives goal to globally eradicate malaria

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is reviving its goal to eliminate malaria globally. The foundation first shared this goal with the research community three years ago. Efforts toward eradicating the disease include the development of a vaccine that would block mosquitoes that bit vaccinated people from spreading the disease further and a drug that would treat malaria and prevent its spread.
