Study: SPECT images acceptable for super-obese patients

Images from an advanced cardiac SPECT system can be considered acceptable for super-obese patients, according to a study presented last week at the annual meeting of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. In the retrospective study of 72 sequential super-obese patients, resting image quality was good or excellent in 35 patients, satisfactory in 24 and poor in three, and none of the images were deemed uninterpretable, researchers said. Use of attenuation correction modified scan readings in 34 patients, researchers said.
