Better training could have averted some issues with NYC 9-1-1 dispatch system

Some problems with New York City's new 9-1-1 dispatch system can be traced to missed opportunities in training some end users such as fire and ambulance dispatchers who still use older systems but get call data from the new system, according to Israel Miranda, president of the NYC EMT and paramedics union. City officials said while ambulance and fire dispatchers were part of test runs of the new system, police operators, the primary users, got more training.
