Bayer seeks USDA approval of biotech rice

Bayer CropScience has applied for U.S. approval of the LL Rice 601, recently found mixed with commercial rice shipments to Europe. Although the presence of the rice in Europe sparked controversy and criticism there, the U.S. Department of Agriculture earlier said it has no concerns about the rice, which Bayer now wants to be shifted from "regulated" to "deregulation" or approval status.
