GitHub CEO says he wants more than developers to use the platform

GitHub CEO Tom Preston-Werner said he wants to "extend the use cases" for the developer-collaboration platform beyond the exchange of code. He envisions government agencies and attorneys, among others, to find use for the site. Preston-Werner made the remarks at TechCrunch Disrupt SF as the company reached the milestone of 4 million users, including hundreds of thousands of paid subscribers to GitHub Enterprise. The move is likely to "put the company further into the crosshairs of other fast-growing startups that are also looking to do more in this area," Ingrid Lunden writes.
