New Chromebooks, Windows 8.1 tablets to have Intel processors

A new line of Chromebook portable computers will be based on Intel "Haswell" processors and will offer longer battery life, according to Google and Intel. The chipmaker separately announced the Z3000 Atom line of processors, intended for Android and Windows 8.1 tablet computers. Windows 8.1 tablets with Intel "Bay Trail" processors will initially be 32-bit machines; 64-bit versions are expected next year.
