SEC to discuss computer glitches with exchange execs

The Securities and Exchange Commission is gathering today to question executives from exchange operators -- including Nasdaq OMX Group, NYSE Euronext and the Chicago Stock Exchange -- about recent technical glitches, such as the three-hour outage at Nasdaq on Aug. 22. The goal of the meeting is to "identify underlying problems with our current market infrastructure and promote dialogue on industry proposals that may fix the proximate causes of recent market disruptions," said SEC Commissioner Michael Piwowar.
