Is Manhattan worth the price?

After 9/11, some corporations moved jobs out of New York City and never looked back. A company in Manhattan with 75 employees costs $21 million a year to run, says John Boyd, who helps Fortune 500 companies relocate. "A close-in move to Jersey City would reduce operating costs substantially," he says. The company could cut costs in half by moving to South Dakota, he says.
