Hearing explores whether ACOs will accelerate consolidation

Wally Herger, R-Calif., chairman of the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, said at a hearing that accountable care organizations will help providers get higher private insurance rates, setting the scene for greater consolidation. Health care experts at the hearing agreed that provider consolidation is on the rise but differed on ACOs' potential effect on the trend.
