Cisco debuts custom nPower chips for moving data at 400 Gbps

Cisco Systems has designed the nPower line of network processors, capable of transmitting data at 400 gigabits per second. The X1 model boasts 336 processor cores and four billion transistors, according to the company. These advanced processors are meant to deal with "event-driven" network traffic, Cisco's Surya Panditi said.
