Coalition calls for FDA oversight of e-cigarettes

The Tobacco Control Legal Consortium in St. Paul, Minn., sent a citizen petition asking the FDA to intervene and affirm its authority over unregulated tobacco products such as electronic cigarettes. "We are focusing on things like e-cigarettes and what are called little cigars and water pipes and dissolvable products," said Doug Blanke, the organization's executive director. "But we're really asking the feds to regulate all tobacco products to create an even playing field."
