T2 Biosystems has kicked off a clinical study of its T2Candida test, which is used to detect a fungus often linked to hospital-acquired infections that can trigger sepsis. Data from the trial will be used to support the company's regulatory application for the assay, which takes just about three hours to spot a single colony-forming unit of the Candida fungus in a 1-milliliter blood sample.
