Indian textile group calls for approval of biotech cotton-field trials

The Southern India Mills' Association urged India's government to allow field trials of biotech cotton varieties, saying the crops could help boost production. "The current cotton production that is around 480 kg per hectare could be increased even up to 950 kg if GM cotton varieties are used," SIMA's president said.
