SAP Big Data unit signs 2 Hadoop deals, creates apps

SAP has agreed to be a reseller of Apache Hadoop distributions created by Intel and Hortonworks. "We have signed a formal agreement driven by both companies at the executive level to make HANA plus Hadoop a winning combination for our customers," SAP's Irfan Khan says. The software company says it will continue to back other Hadoop distributions. SAP says it also has 10 specialized Big Data applications in the pipeline, the first of which is Demand Signal Management, meant for use by manufacturers.
