Sequester threatens military options on Syria, officials say

Budget cuts and sequestration threaten the nation's ability to respond militarily to crises around the globe, and could hamper possible action in Syria, U.S. defense officials say. "[U]nless we act to address the damage of continuing resolutions and sequestration, [maritime actions] are options which may be limited or just not available in the future," said Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, speaking recently at the National Defense University.
