Xcel seeks Colo. PUC approval to add 450 MW of wind power

Xcel Energy filed with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission a revised plan to obtain 450 megawatts of new wind power capacity. The new plan comes after the PUC approved just 200 MW of Xcel's initial proposal of 550 MW, said spokesman Gabriel Romero. Xcel rewrote its proposal and requested another 250 MW, he said, adding that building more wind power will keep its customers' rates affordable and "take advantage of very favorable pricing for some great projects," combined with lesser amounts of additional solar and natural gas capacity.
