Industry groups, medical experts clash over salt

The American Medical Association is fighting with the salt industry over whether the FDA should regulate salt as a food additive, a move that salt companies call unnecessary. Salt consumption in the U.S. is rising, though some companies, including ConAgra Foods, slowly are trying to reduce sodium content in processed foods.
