CMS chief seeks insurers' help to revamp health care system

CMS chief Dr. Donald Berwick said that insurance companies can help improve the national health care system by putting more emphasis on primary care and coordinating with hospitals. In a meeting hosted by America's Health Insurance Plans, Berwick asked insurers to cooperate with the government's campaign to redesign the health care system. "You don't get the level of improvement we need by simply trying harder the same way. ... If you want new results, you need a new system," he said.
