Home care benefits terminally ill patients and their caregivers

Advanced cancer patients who received end-of-life care at hospitals scored lower in terms of quality of life and experienced more distress before death than patients who spent their dying days at home, researchers found. The loved ones of hospitalized patients were five times more susceptible to post-traumatic stress disorder than the families of those who received hospice care, the study showed.
