Study: Tension vector orientation affects soft-tissue lift

Structural changes at various points across the face are affected by the direction of tension applied during face-lift surgery, researchers report in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery. Greater total lift was achieved with vertical lift than superolateral lift alone or superolateral lift with platysmal plication, based on the results of 10 procedures on cadaver tissue. Platysmal dehiscence decreased after vertical lift and increased after superolateral.
