NYSE replaces trading booths with high-tech pods

The New York Stock Exchange is overhauling its trading floor, replacing booths with high-tech trading pods that allow traders to execute transactions on other electronic venues. Traders in the pods can use proprietary applications, thanks to a $10 million makeover. "Markets were moving at such a fast pace, firms needed to keep up with technology," said Robert Airo, senior vice president of operations of NYSE Market Operations for NYSE Euronext.
