La. could be home to new refinery worth up to $10B

South African energy and chemical company Sasol plans to build a gas-to-liquids refinery complex in Calcasieu Parish, La., at a cost of between $8 billion and $10 billion. Construction could begin as early as 2013. A feasibility study needs to be completed, after which the company would enter the design-and-engineering phase for the project, which would employ about 850 workers.
