University of Houston to build turbine research center

The University of Houston plans to open a research center for wind energy next year to refine the designs of wind turbines. The House of Representatives passed legislation last week that would give turbine research $200 million in funding each year for five years. "Wind energy has been and continues to be a very important part of the electricity-generating portfolio in this country," said Rep. Ralph Hall, R-Texas.
