Advanced Cell Technology gets 2 patents related to retinal cells

Advanced Cell Technology has received a patent to use retinal pigment epithelial cells derived from human embryonic stem cells in the treatment of retinal degeneration. The company also received another patent that allows it to produce RPE cells for use in transplantation. The patents will enable the company to test its cell treatment for Stargardt's disease.
