Partnership looks to fill gaps in Kentucky's dental care

The Appalachian Rural Dental Educational Partnership Plan -- a partnership of the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, Morehead State University and the University of Pikeville -- will attempt to increase the number of dentists in chronically underserved areas of eastern Kentucky. The group plans to recruit dental students from rural areas and encourage them to return home to practice. Studies have found high rates of dental problems in rural parts of the state, due in part to a lack of dentists.
