Workplace satisfaction can benefit both nurses and their patients, and studies in the past three decades have shown that job satisfaction for nursing staff is tied to better patient outcomes, ANA CEO Marla J. Weston said. Hospitals can track job satisfaction figures through ANA's National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators and other studies. "Being a healthy nurse and working in a healthy work environment is also good for our patients," Weston said.
