Lawyers battle over timetable for Gulf suits

The legal fight over the Gulf oil spill has kicked off with a dispute over the pacing of the litigation. Plaintiffs' attorneys say they want an accelerated procedure that would allow them almost immediate access to e-mails and other documents relating to the spill, and that a lengthier buildup would put their clients under undue pressure to settle before the cases are heard.
