There are several myths that persist about performance, including the notion that employees with high job satisfaction are more productive, Harold D. Stolovitch writes. "[K]knowing an employee's job-satisfaction level can actually bias performance-appraisal ratings," he writes. "Managers tend to rate the performance of employees they hired more highly than those hired by others."
