House panel's hearing on TSCA to address pre-emption concerns

The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy will meet Wednesday to address concerns about updating the Toxic Substances Control Act, including state pre-emption and regulation of existing chemicals. The hearing comes while senators revise the bipartisan Chemical Safety Improvement Act, intended to reform the TSCA. The House hearing is intended to educate new lawmakers about the TSCA before debates on its reform, according to subcommittee Chairman John Shimkus, R-Ill.
