Study links Crohn's to overall cancer risk

Crohn's disease patients had a higher overall cancer risk, but ulcerative colitis patients did not, when compared with the general population, researchers report in The American Journal of Gastroenterology. The population-based study showed that ulcerative colitis patients had an elevated risk for prostate cancer, but Crohn's patients were at greater risk for small bowel and lung cancers, cervical dysplasia and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
